hi everybody!!!
So the cats did not in fact resolve their dog differences. They're getting more accustomed to each other, but its a slow process.
Pictures to come later, but we got 2 kittens from a rescue and they are adorable but a little traumatized. Only a week in, but they are showing progress :).
Also, I didnt get a lot of sleep that night, or the next 2. But hey, I get an entire 5 hours tonight!!! SWAG!!!
I mentioned a couple entries ago I was ditching spotify, and it has still been lovely. However, I went a little overboard with the spending. In the last week, I spent $100 on albums.. my b ): It didnt seem like a lot until I added it up earlier today :// I get paid in a couple days, so no big worries, but I definitely will have to be more frugal going forward. $20 a month I think will be my cap.
One of those albums was DELTARUNE Piano collections, and I gotta say, absolutely amazing. I was a big fan of Vol 1 and 2 of UNDERTALE Piano collections, but personally, I wished the arrangements stuck a little closer to the source material. Often times the main meat of the tracks were barely recognizable from their original, which while awesome, wasn't exactly what I often was looking for in the UNDERTALE collections. The pianist here though (Trevor Alan Gomes) struck the balance perfectly. Emotional, dramatic arrangements that embody the characters and themes, while still staying close enough to the source material to scratch the itch. I've been looping it for a while, and will probably continue to do so for a few more days. Part of what made that $100 was ordering the CD because that album is just SO GOOD??? How could I resist????
I've also finished fully digitizing my CD collection, so I've got a good amount to live off of for at least September.
In other news, I'm finally executing my scheme to fully kill doomscrolling with the ANTI SCROLLING POCKET NOTEBOOK. Today was day one, which was fun (did some doodling and schemed some ideas for this page :) ). I'll let you when I inevitably relapse (but wish me luck lol).
That's all for now. Later alligators.

HEY AGAIN!!! IM BACK!!! in a mere 48 hours.. who would have guessed.
I realized I can see how many views my website has.. 88. disgusting. so sad you all had to see it. how embarassing. it's like having company without cleaning your room.
But look!! dedicated blog page!!! MARGINS??? we're moving up in the world. not much longer and I will have the coolest website out of anyone I know (i'm looking at you hayden.. watch out..)
Anyway, as of yesterday, I decided I wanted to move away from spotify. I was already pretty upset about how much they paid artists, and as a company they keep steering further into AI, but I saw a very informative youtube video about how apparently the ceo is funneling that money directly into the military industrial complex??? yeah, not cool. plus i just got a new debit card, so instead of changing my billing info i'm just not going to continue with premium. I have a big ol pile of CDs that I've been slowly grinding through my computer and slapping the files on my phone. Right now I'm using Oto Music to organize it, but I'm open to trying other ones later (lmk if you have other recommendations !! can you message through neocities?? if so give me a message lol). I bought a few other albums on bandcamp for a few bucks, and going forward, I'm just going to start spending what was previously my premium subscription on more albums. Plus, I usually only listen to a couple albums on loop anyway. I also already had the Deltarune soundtrack on my steam, and that's 90% of my spotify over the past 3 months lol.
Not sure if anyone else can relate to this, but listening to media I own physically is such a different experience. It's still just hitting a button on my phone, but the process of ripping the CD and transferring the files over and THEN hitting the button just feels, better somehow?? maybe its just the relieved guilt of knowing I actually the paid the artist instead of throwing a .0001 cent royalty. In addition, it's much easier finding something to listen to. It's not longer the entire internet at my disposal, I just choose which of my already favorite albums I like. and when those get old, I'll just peruse bandcamp or take a reccomendation from a pal. We'll see how much I like it later on. Worst case, I still have youtube for trying out new stuff.
That's all I've really got on my mind right now. Until next time shawties.
farewell,
Koen

gang it has been an ENTIRE YEAR since i made this.. it's been on the back of the hobby backburner for that long, I really thought maybe a few months max. Well, I still haven't learned how to code in HTML. I can do my funny plain text and that's about it. But I don't want to put off blogging any longer because like, that's so sick??? I want to do that??? I have so many essay ideas just lurking beneath my skin trying to claw out. NO LONGER!!! I will bless the internet with NO FORMATTING BLOG!!!! Ok, maybe eventually. Perhaps I'll start using it and get tired of looking at it. Since my last update, I have started journaling physically, which is awesome, but I yearn for the crowd. Ok, realistically, probably no crowd, but at least public-facing. My journal is all personal and wah wah wah feelings, but here I can consolidate all my hobbies in a little front-facing corner of the web. And then link people to it!! like hey Koen, what are your hobbies?? Check out my website :)))) who can say that anymore?? well, everyone on neocities. But now I can count myself among them. With no formatting. This shit is and will be a text document and I will remain self conscious about it.
Anyway, life update::: I'm in EMT school right now, and very behind so probably no serious website overhaul in the immediate future. My main music project as of this moment is the soundtrack for my good pal Kolten's indie game, Purgeatory, which I don't have a link for because it's in pre-alpha. Send me an email or something though if you're interesting in messing with it. Once a demo is out/or it's in alpha or something, I'll release a little EP/album, then move on with future projects. I might drop some cleaned up demos in the meantime, but eh, probably not. One day the not-releasing-anything suffocation will get me and I'll drop 1.5 hours of scattered mp3 files.
I might steal some code from the internet for doing embedded mp3 files to show my most recent project. maybe. eventually. I want to put this higher on the hobby hierarchy but there seems to be a lot of time and energy involved in getting good at this and it's very unlikely I do weekly updates on here. but maybe!! We'll find out next week!!!! Keep an eye out!!
safe travels,
Koen
Welcome to the bottom of the page!!! how'd you get down here????
